The International Thespian Excellence Awards
WHY THE THESPY'S MATTER FOR YOUR PROGRAM!CURRICULUM SUPPORT: Students can be adjudicated using the National Core Arts Standards in 18 different categories including: Monologues, Musical Theatre, Duet Performances, Group Performances, Stage Management, Directing, Film, and Design.
EMPOWERING STUDENTS: Student receive ratings of superior, excellent, good, or fair. OPPORTUITIES BEYOND THE CLASS: Students who receive ratings of Superior may advance to the ITF in Bloomington, Indiana. ADVOCACY AT HOME: Students who receive ratings of superior receive a letter from the International Thespian Society for their portfolio, as well as a medal at the closing ceremony ADVOCACY WITH ADMIN: Principals will receive a letter from the Virginia Thespians congratulating you, your students and their work. RECOGNITION: Additionally, some of students who've earned a superior rating will be invited to perform or share their design work in the Annual Virginia Thespian Festival Thespy Showcase at our Mainstage Closing Ceremony. QUALIFY FOR INTERNATIONALS!STEP 1: Submit your Thespy to the Virginia Thespian Festival. Students may submit more than as many Thespy's as they like. However, they may only compete in each category one time. Deadline to submit is 11/10!
STEP 2: Read your rubrics to make sure you are within the time limit and have what you need to qualify. STEP 3: Make sure your pieces are on the 'GREEN LIGHT LIST' and not infringing on copyright. STEP 4: Recieve a Superior Rating and you're off to ITF! |
NEW BETA RUBRICS
Here are the beta rubrics for the two NEW Thespy categories this year. Note, these do not qualify to move onto nationals at this time but you can still earn an honorary superior at our state festival for these categories.
